Who’s Going to Win the National Championship? Alabama and Notre Dame Fans Battle in Real-time, powered by Echo

Ready for the big game?  Notre Dame and Alabama fans are, and they’re jumping online to show their enthusiasm for their team with an innovative new social offering.  It’s the ultimate marriage of sports and social, and offline and online fan participation.

Today, Flatmascots.com launched as a destination for fans to show their support for Alabama and Notre Dame by posting photos to Twitter or Instagram and tagged with their team’s hashtag: #FlatBigAl or #FlatLeprechaun. The user-generated pics flow into www.flatmascots.com in real-time, showcasing fan pride for the world to see.

An online battle broke out between Julio Jones, Alabama alum and current Atlanta Falcons wide receiver, and Jerome Bettis, Notre Dame alum and former Pittsburgh Steeler icon, each player lining up to support his alumni.

The friendly war of words comes courtesy of Coke Zero who enlisted the two to exchange Twitter barbs leading up to the title game. So far, both have been exchanging verbal bombs that include Jones pointing out to Bettis that you can’t spell secoND without ND.

Created by Atlanta agency CSE in partnership with Echo, this promotion effectively bridges online and offline experiences in a meaningful way to drive deeper engagement with the football team brands.
